The band released their eighth studio album, titled 8, on April 21, 2017. With their 2011 album If Not Now, When? the band developed a more Pop-Rock style. Incubus' first greatest hits album Monuments and Melodies came out in June 2009. Their sixth studio album, Light Grenades, debuted at #1, their first and only #1 album. The Band’s success continued with the album A Crow Left of the Murder… (2004).

Their albums Make Yourself and Morning View evolved into a more Post-Grunge sound. (1997) were aggressive and clunky Funk Metal inspired by 80’s bands, such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers.Īs the band earned mainstream recognition in the late 90’s and early 00’s their style matured significantly. Brandon became Jose’s best friend and the two spent a lot of time together playing commando games in the near by bushes. The first of his mates he got to know was Brandon Boyd, who he first met when they were in 4th grade. The school was located in the San Fernando Valley near Calabasas. Their early work, Fungus Amongus (1995) and S.C.I.E.N.C.E. Jose first met his Incubus band mates while in school.

The band have undergone many style changes over their long careers. Incubus has attained commercial success, reaching multi-platinum sales, as well as releasing several successful singles, Dig & Drive especially. Incubus later expanded to include bassist Alex “Dirk Lance” Katunich, and Gavin “DJ Lyfe” Koppell both of whom were eventually replaced by bassist Ben Kenney and DJ Kilmore respectively.

The band was formed in 1991 by vocalist Brandon Boyd, lead guitarist Mike Einziger, and drummer Jose Pasillas while enrolled in Calabasas High School. Incubus is an American alternative rock band from Calabasas, California.
